Summary
Over the past few years, more and more attention has been paid to diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in organizations and in research. In her book, Shared Sisterhood, Dr. Beth Livingston (with her co-author, Dr. Tina Opie) centers the importance of authentic connections as a precursor for sustained allyship and equity at work, presenting a new framework that spans multiple levels of analysis from the individual, to the interpersonal, to the institutional. In this presentation, Dr. Livingston will present ongoing empirical research on the role of authentic connections with coworkers as precursors for perceptions of allyship and the importance of these connections for people from marginalized racial/ethnic groups.
