Biography
Yves Barou regularly shares his experience and expertise as a senior executive in various HEC Executive Education programs.
Yves Barou started his career in the economic forecasting division of the French Ministry of Finance (1970-1981). In 1982, he became technical advisor to the Minister of Social Affairs.In 1984, he joined Rhone-Poulenc where he held various senior management positions in France and the USA, particularly in HR functions.
In 1998 (until 2000), he was appointed Deputy Cabinet Director to the French Minister of Employment and Solidarity, with responsibility for employment and training. At this time, he actively contributed to the preparation and implementation of laws against exclusion, and laws concerning professional training, new services and working hours.
In 2000, he joined Thales as Senior Vice-President, Human Resources and Social Affairs. In this capacity, he negotiated two important European agreements generating European standards for professional development and the introduction of a new assessment concept.
Since 2010, Yves Barou is dedicated to consulting activities. In particular, he is a Social Adviser to the « Fonds Stratégique d'nvestissement », a subsidiary of the French « Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations », where his action is oriented towards the definition and implementation of a socially responsible investment policy. Additionally, he created the European HRD Circle for Social Responsibility.
Yves Barou is an engineer from Ecole Polytechnique (France) and holds a Ph.D. in Economics.
