HEC Paris Professor Sihem Ben Mahmoud-Jouini wins the best paper award of Research-Technology Management Journal, for her 2019 published article co-authored with Didier Boulet, Chief Design Officer of Thales, and Sebastian Fixson, Professor at Babson College.
Sihem Ben Mahmoud-Jouini is an associate professor at the Information Systems and Operations Management Department at HEC Paris, and an expert in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Design Management.
She has been analyzing for 6 years the implementation of design thinking as a new innovation approach at Thales and, more generally, the design transformation that led to the designation of a Chief Design Officer (Didier Boulet) in January 2020.
The authors received the 2020 Maurice Holland Award during the IRI’s 2020 annual conference where they were invited as guest speakers. James Euchner Editor-in-Chief of Research-Technology Management presented during the event the 4 criterias of this selection: the newness, the usefulness, the credibility, and clarity of the article.
In their special keynote session "Making Design Thinking Work", Sebastian Fixson presented briefly the principles of design thinking, its wide diffusion and its impact; Didier Boulet shared the main steps of the DT journey resulting in the creation of 12 Design Centers in Thales wordlwide, and Sihem Ben Mahmoud-Jouini presented the key success factors of such an implementation of design thinking. The conference that was planned to occur in Philadelphia has gone virtual and is hence accessible in this video.
