About the program

The K-Startup Center Program, initiated by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) and facilitated by the Korea Institute of Startup and Entrepreneurship Development (KISED), aims to support Korean startups in entering the global market. Through partnerships with global accelerators(Incubateur HEC Paris), the program provides resources and office space in target countries, facilitating the scale-up of Korean startups. MSS is responsible for SME, venture company, and startup policies, while KISED supports startups through education, funding, and global expansion initiatives, making it a leading institution in Korea for tech-based startup commercialization.

Incubateur HEC Paris is operating the KSC program. it means HEC selects startups for entry into France and supports growth. It also supports startups' entry into the French European market through an online and onsite program.

Objectives

The objective is to support and generate opportunities such as fulfilling Korean startups' fundamental requirements by developing products aligned with market needs, executing robust sales strategies for market penetration, overcoming talent acquisition obstacles, securing financial stability through strategic funding, leveraging expertise in seeking investment opportunities, and fostering advocacy to support sustained growth and success.

Program Structure

The program consists of a one-month online period to prepare the startups' arrival in France and kickstart the acceleration with experts and a two-month onsite period with 24/7 access to Station F and all its available resources.

The online program will consist of a four-week online sprint to establish a local network appropriate for the selected startups' industry and growth stage and consult on effective strategies for entering the local markets. The objective is to obtain maximum execution from the onsite program through more active participation and mentoring with experts and peers. Details are as follows.

Below are some of the activities/milestones the startup will go through:

  • Collective online preparation session for all selected startups
  • KPI Workshop: Individual onboarding and definition of personal objectives (HEC staff going to Korea)
  • Business meetings with experts & network members of the Incubateur HEC Paris and Station F
  • Local understanding of the startup and business ecosystem
  • Group Seminars
  • French specific regulations
  • Setting expansion roadmap.
  • Startup mentor-mentee sessions (peer-to-peer)

The proposed dates for the on-site program are two months. The goal of the on-site program will be to support market expansion by expanding the startups' demand base with PR and marketing activities and growing sales with local partner corporations, leading to setting up the startups' businesses in the French and European markets.

The startups will be welcomed at Station F, the heart of Paris’s startup ecosystem. During the two months of the on-site program, selected startups will have dedicated office space.

Below are some of the activities/milestones the startup will go through:

  • Experts meetings, business & feedback intros
  • Advanced business opportunities
  • Student Challenges & workforce supply (e.g., Business Development Challenge or UX/UI challenge) with HEC Paris and partners’ schools
  • Roadmap meetings
  • Full access to Station F events, perks, and parties
  • Access to Slack with all entrepreneurs available for networking purposes
  • Networking events with startups, experts, and VCs
  • Collaboration with related international organizations (French Tech, Business France, Choose Paris Region…)
  • Demo day at the end of the program

Who is eligible to the program?

The target audience is Korean startups with less than 7 years of experience attracting investment and exporting to France. The startup's business mainly focuses on smart cities and cultural content.
