The program provided me with deep and practical insights into the complexities of entrepreneurship. I acquired the necessary knowledge and skills to tackle entrepreneurial challenges effectively, even before I embarked on my first venture as an investor.

Why did you decide to join the MSc X-HEC Entrepreneur at HEC Paris?

I decided to join the Entrepreneur Master at HEC Paris for a multitude of compelling reasons. Firstly, the program's unique blend of practical experiences and academic rigor provides an exceptional platform for aspiring entrepreneurs. The emphasis on various missions, such as company creation, restructuring, and takeovers, not only equips us with a diverse skill set but also exposes us to the real-world challenges and opportunities that entrepreneurs encounter.

This learning-by-doing approach was one of the main reasons I chose the Master Entrepreneur, as it ensures that the year feels more like an apprenticeship, where we are already immersed in the professional world.

What are your biggest takeaways from the program?

My most significant takeaways revolve around the program's exceptional ability to foster networking and collaboration. The program is meticulously designed to encourage meaningful interactions and conversations among all participants. Whether it's the diverse groups formed for hikes, missions, or projects, the emphasis on collaboration is consistently evident.

This approach has not only enabled me to engage with people I might not have crossed paths with otherwise but has also cultivated strong friendships. This emphasis on networking and interaction is unquestionably one of the program's most priceless takeaways, shaping my professional growth and nurturing a diverse network that will undoubtedly benefit both my professional but also personal journey.

What is your current job? What types of responsibilities do you have?

In my current role, I serve as an early-stage investor within a venture capital fund. This multifaceted position entails a wide array of responsibilities that are integral to the fund's operations. Primarily, I am tasked with sourcing and meticulously analyzing potential deal opportunities in the early-stage startup landscape. This involves conducting thorough due diligence, assessing the viability and growth potential of various startups, making informed investment decisions, and, if the decision is positive, working on finalizing the deal and providing ongoing support to the startup in the future.

Furthermore, I actively participate in the fundraising efforts of the fund, working collaboratively to secure the necessary capital from investors to fuel our investments in promising startups. This dual role allows me to contribute to both sides of the venture capital equation, from identifying and nurturing the most promising startups to ensuring the financial resources are in place to support their growth, making my job dynamic and very fulfilling.

How did you find your job?

It was during my time as a volunteer in an NGO that I had the opportunity to meet the founder of the venture capital fund where I now work. Through our interactions, it became apparent that we shared the same vision and values. That led me to join the team!

How did the program help define your career path and secure your job?

The program has been instrumental in shaping my career path and securing my job in more ways than I could have imagined. Before enrolling, I was torn between a career in entrepreneurship and venture capital, with a limited understanding of the intricate challenges involved. However, the Entrepreneur Master at HEC Paris provided me with a deep and practical insight into the complexities of entrepreneurship, offering a comprehensive understanding of what truly matters within a company.

I acquired the necessary knowledge and skills to tackle entrepreneurial challenges effectively, even before I embarked on my first venture as an investor. As a testament to the program's influence, I made the decision to combine both interests by joining a venture capital fund as its first employee right from day one, a role that feels like an entrepreneurial journey, where I can apply my entrepreneurial knowledge and contribute to building a fund from the ground up.

What are your long-term career aspirations, and how will the MSc X-HEC Entrepreneur help you achieve them?

I believe that regardless of your long-term career aspirations, the Master's program can be highly beneficial due to the strength of its network. The Entrepreneur Master at HEC Paris boasts an extensive and influential network of professionals working within the innovation ecosystem. This network serves as an invaluable resource, providing access to mentors, investors, and industry experts who are always eager to exchange ideas and support fellow alumni. The diversity within this network is particularly appealing, encompassing individuals from various industries, backgrounds, and experiences, fostering a rich environment for exchanging ideas and collaboration. Additionally, the network spans multiple geographic regions, ensuring that wherever you choose to live, you can find support and connections within this global community.

Any advice for students considering joining the MSc X-HEC Entrepreneur and wishing to follow the same career path?

Don’t hesitate to explore the fusion of your interests, whether it's a combination of entrepreneurship and venture capital or any other unique blend. It's often at the intersection of these interests where exceptional opportunities arise.
