Kristian Andersen Faraglia

Master in Accounting, Finance & Management

Kristian Andersen Faraglia

Class of 2021

Kristian Andersen Faraglia

The AFM Master community is a robust support system, and you are surrounded by people who genuinely want to see you succeed. Don’t hesitate to seek guidance and assistance from your fellow students and professors. They are all invested in your growth and are more than willing to offer their knowledge and experience to help you thrive.

Why did you decide to join this HEC Paris Master?

I was drawn to the AFM Master at HEC Paris by its unique academic curriculum. By seamlessly integrating strategic, accounting, and finance courses, the program promised to provide a well-rounded understanding of the most relevant areas in corporate management. HEC Paris’ reputation for academic excellence and its unmatched alumni network played a key role in finalizing my ultimate decision.

What are your biggest takeaways from the program?

Encountering a collaborative setting with like-minded peers is genuinely extraordinary. The faculty includes outstanding professors and seasoned professionals who eagerly share their knowledge and experiences, empowering every student to flourish in their individual journeys. Classes remain relatively small, fostering a supportive and friendly working environment.

What is your current job? What types of responsibilities do you have?

I work in the leveraged finance team at Pareto Securities. In a nutshell, my role involves liaising with our private equity clients, conducting in-depth analyses of their portfolio companies, and structuring debt transactions for their investments. My responsibilities span the entire deal lifecycle, encompassing everything from initial pitches to book close.

How did you find your job?

Upon completing the program, my aspiration was to pursue a career in investment banking. Recognizing Pareto Securities as one of the leaders in the Nordic region within this domain, I applied through their career portal.

How did the program help define your career path and secure your job?

Embarking on the master’s program with an uncertain vision of my future career, the AFM Master program proved instrumental in shaping my professional path. Its well-rounded curriculum and exposure to diverse career paths, combined with numerous discussions with both fellow students and faculty members, allowed me to solidify my decision. The program provided valuable opportunities for refining skills and mastering interview techniques, thanks to its comprehensive training initiatives, ultimately contributing to the successful job placement.

What are your long-term career aspirations, and how will having AFM Master help you achieve those aspirations?

My long-term career aspirations are dynamic, with a particular inspiration drawn from fields such as sustainability-linked financing to aid small and medium businesses within renewable energy, circular economy, and waste recycling. The AFM Master program has furnished me with the essential skills and knowledge to excel in these domains. Additionally, the program's exceptional alumni network stands as a valuable resource for continuous support and guidance.

Any advice for students considering joining the AFM Master and wishing to follow the same career path?

To all students embarking on the AFM Master journey, my advice is to embrace and cherish every moment of this program. While dedicating yourself to your studies and job applications, remember the importance of finding balance in your life. Make time for rest, rejuvenation, and engage in sports and outdoor activities. The AFM Master community is a robust support system, and you are surrounded by people who genuinely want to see you succeed. Don’t hesitate to seek guidance and assistance from your fellow students and professors. They are all invested in your growth and are more than willing to offer their knowledge and experience to help you thrive.
