Why did you decide to join the MSc Data Science for Business École Polytechnique-HEC?

During my HEC Paris professional gap year, I interned at Saint-Gobain where I worked closely with the IT & Digital department to identify priority initiatives and define a scale-out plan. I realized how crucial it was to get a technical understanding of data-driven topics to design efficient business strategies, even outside of the tech world. Joining the DSB program was the opportunity to combine my fundamental mathematics background with my business studies and reuse those skills in the business field.

What are your biggest takeaways from the program?

The DSB program proved that it was never too late to join a technical master’s degree, even after more generalist bachelor studies. This program allowed me to get all the tools to have true business impact in my company, based on facts derived from the data rather than assumptions.

What is your current job? What types of responsibilities do you have?

I currently work at C3 AI, as an AI Solutions Manager. I lead teams of data scientists, software engineers and architects to deliver production-grade enterprise AI applications to our customers. I mainly focus on predictive maintenance issues and help our customers avoid equipment downtime through AI. 

How did the program help define your career path and secure your job?

The program showed me that the learning curve never ends when it comes to data science and software engineering jobs. It gave me the tools to start my career but also to understand how to learn the unknown along the way. I used the skills I had acquired to show that I was capable of learning more afterwards. This program also helped me find job opportunities that reconciled my business and technical skills and that I could have not accessed otherwise. 

What are your long-term career aspirations, and how will having the MSc DSB help you achieve your goals?

Long-term, I would like to participate in the digital transformation of businesses by bringing technical and strategy expertise. 

Any advice for students considering joining the MSc DSB and wishing to follow a similar career path?

I would advise anyone who is interested in gaining strong data science skills to apply in day-to-day businesses to join the program. There is a lot to learn, and a lot to reuse in the professional field.
