There are over 100 clubs and associations on campus that students can get involved in, covering a wide range of different activities and interests. Here are just some of the activities on offer:

Leadership skills and Responsibilities

By joining a society, you can develop your leadership and teamwork skills, some of the most important assets required in the world of work. These skills can be developed not only by taking on committee roles, but also by simply participating as a member. Membership is also an opportunity to show commitment and responsibility. Students can practice further skills in areas such as debating and consulting in some of HEC’s largest societies.

Networking Opportunities

Many student societies create opportunities for members to meet company representatives and network with people from all over the world, forging relations with entrepreneurs and making important business connections with like-minded people. It is a great place to share ideas, be inspired by those around you and benefit from the input of others.

Social Life

Aside from academic and career orientated benefits, joining one or more student societies can really enhance your social experience here on campus. Meet other people on your course and from other programs and make friends with whom who you can spend some downtime, both on and off campus. Enjoy various different events organized by the society such as parties, talks, activities and other social events. Many student societies even arrange trips to different cities and areas of France, giving you a chance to explore the French culture and the views that the country has to offer. If you are looking for something more relaxing, you can indulge in the luxury, wine tasting and gastronomy offered by HEC’s leisure societies and reward yourself with foodie events and even wine tasting competitions.

Culture and Intercultural

HEC also boasts a great range of cultural societies that allow students to learn more about the diverse range of cultures here on campus and which provide a place to get involved in music, dance, drama, filmmaking and more.

Sports

HEC has an abundance of sports clubs to suit all kinds of interests, and they are a great way to meet other students. Throughout the year, students can get involved in regular training but also take part in international and inter-school events.

Whichever type of student society draws you in, the combination of community, leisure, and professional insight that you can gain can be extremely valuable in your future. Student societies provide the perfect environment for developing skills and assets that will be highly profitable in the world of work and key to building a successful career.

LOGO KIP

KIP is HEC Paris’ online student publication, available in both French and English. In 2017, French students in their third undergraduate year founded KIP. There was no student publication at HEC beforehand and our ‘’founding fathers’’ believed there should be a platform where everyone on campus could say what they wanted. KIP quickly became a way to unite the HEC community, gathering a range of nationalities, backgrounds and views.

KEY EVENTS

  • We organize at least one event per week, usually interviews or group outings to the Paris city centre. They are open to our members, our partners and, sometimes, the whole HEC community.
  • Twice a month or so, we visit the headquarters of a famous French (or foreign) media. In 2018, we visited Le Figaro, The Los Angeles Times, France Télévisions, INA and Elephant Productions among others. We make the most of these visits to meet professional journalists: in the past, we have spoken with Christophe Barbier (BFMTV) and Audrey Pulvar.
  • We also spend several weekends a year in a French town. These provide opportunities for team building, filming reports and writing articles about our visits.
  • Finally, we organize a conference on campus once a year. Last year, we invited Christophe Deloire, the General Secretary of Reporters without Borders, to talk about freedom of speech in the media.

WHY JOIN THIS SOCIETY?

KIP is the perfect fit for you if:

  • You like writing, doing research and sharing your opinion.
  • You have a creative mind-set and can contribute to illustrations or videos.
  • You are interested in the media industry: more often than not, our members are keen to work in media after graduation. However, this does not constitute a necessary entry requirement.
  • You want to meet inspiring people every week and discover places you would not otherwise visit.
  • You would like to be involved in a student society with an international outlook: members communicate in English and it’s a great opportunity to make friends from all over the world – and to practise your translation skills.
  • In conclusion, you will get to improve your skills in writing, communication, filmmaking, networking and even coding.

LOGO ESP'R

Esp'r promotes and acts for ecology. We organize conferences (Jean-Marc Jancovici, Arthur Keller, Emma Haziza), workshops (Fresques du climat, Ateliers 2 tonnes) and events on campus. Esp'r also runs Le Local and Meublation, and we work with the HEC administration to integrate ecological issues into academic and campus life. Esp'r offers HEC students an opportunity to make a commitment to ecology and have a greater impact thanks to the strength of the group.

The association has 8 divisions: Lobby, Epicerie, Events, Meublation, Conférences, Earth Week, Carrières and Communication.

KEY EVENTS

Every year we organize the Earth Week, a series of conferences, workshops, crafts and festive activities to promote ecology on campus and highlight the importance of ecological issues.

L'Epicerie offers bulk food (mostly organic), vegetables, fresh produce and bread from various local producers. The aim is to introduce a new, more responsible and more local way of consuming, at reduced prices.

Thanks to the Lobby division, Esp'r is working with the HEC administration - sometimes accompanied by strong actions to ensure that the subject is really considered - to integrate ecological issues into the curriculum (creation of a Circular Economy Academy, Biodiversity, introduction of a Climate & Business certificate, revision of Global Issues courses...).

WHY JOIN THIS SOCIETY?

If you're looking for a dynamic association where you can set up new projects that make sense, Esp'R is the one for you: with 70 members per year, 8 poles and a planet to save, you won't be bored.

180 DC LOGO

We are the HEC Paris branch of the world's largest university-based consultancy for start-ups, NGOs, and non-profit businesses committed to sustainability and social impact. 65+ master and MBA students accompany projects all over the globe while maintaining a close-knit network with corporate partners, academic institutions, and other 180DC branches.

There is no shortage of organisations that desire to improve the world around them. They are staffed by people who are passionate about making a difference, however, many only have limited resources, time, and money. We help these organisations scale their business by providing affordable, high-quality strategic advice. At the same time, we develop a generation of future leaders who are committed to making a difference.

KEY EVENTS

  • Consulting: Our 15-20 annual consulting projects form the core of our work. Each semester, students work in teams of 5 on a client challenge, which could be anything from devising a new corporate strategy, to defining the activities plan for the CMO or building a data analysis tool. Check out the project database on our website.
  • Learning & Development: We are committed to providing students with an optimal springboard into consulting. Next to on-the-job learning, we provide training sessions, sustainability skills workshops, and mentorship through our partner Kearney.
  • 180DC Spirit: We’re not all work! Team events, outings, and our annual flagship paintball tournament are just as important in defining what 180DC is.

WHY JOIN THIS ASSOCIATION?

  • All motivated students can apply in Sep/ Jan - regardless of degree program, experience level, or language - we value commitment above anything else
  • Become part of an international network of student consultants driven by the desire to have a positive impact on society.
  • Develop concrete work experience by becoming a consultant for global enterprises, mentored by Kearney
  • Learn how to work effectively in teams and develop consulting and leadership skills.

HEC Women in Business currently has 100 active members including 13 board members. Our main objective is to help HEC women students access job opportunities in fields where women are underrepresented, by both supporting them in this process, and offering them the opportunity to be in contact with major players across different domains. Our club is divided into 5 teams: consulting, finance, luxury, tech and sustainability.

KEY EVENTS

In pursuit of our mission, we are creating strong partnerships with companies and at the same time organizing professional events such as company visits, workshops, conferences, and networking and mentoring sessions. Thus, we aim to increase the number of female applicants across these sectors and to help HEC students finally get an internship or a job offer.
