Felipe Franco
EMBA - Inclusive and Social Business Certificate
Always ask yourself the question, how is my company contributing to a better society?
My name is Felipe, I am a HEC Paris EMBA and Inclusive & Social Business Certificate Alumnus and my professional project is about the launch of a social brand of African honey.
Our objective is to give African beekeepers a high percentage of the profit generated by their honey production, therefore increasing their revenue and improving their livelihood, but also protecting the environment.
Through the Inclusive & Social Business Certificate, I learned that business can also be a tool to tackle social issues. Indeed I believe that financial profit should not be seen as an end in itself but rather as a tool to create social and environmental value.
By doing so I believe that companies will be creating sustainable competitive advantage, corporate longevity and also becoming better resistant to economic downturns.
And we actually saw that during the market crisis, in mid-March, companies with the best scores at environmental social and governance (ESG) goals were the ones best resisting the crash.
So here is my message for the leaders and entrepreneurs of today and tomorrow: Always ask yourself the question, how is my company contributing to a better society?
