Summer Student Story
I was impressed by the diversity of the participants at the HEC Paris Summer School. Can you believe that Investment Banking & International Finance program gathered participants of 24 nationalities!
My passion is to make an impact in both public and private sectors by contributing to economic development and participating in a dialogue between the most relevant stakeholders which drives business in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
As a master’s degree holder in Public Administration with six years of cross-border experience in the semi-government sector in the State of Qatar, with expertise in PPPs implementation in the sea ports and terminals sector, business development, mergers and acquisitions, post-merger integration, stakeholders management, and in general, developing meaningful and beneficial partnerships with contributors along the value chain, I was looking for an academic challenge which could contribute to my personal and professional growth. At the same time, I was eager to connect with like-minded young professionals across the globe. I was impressed by the diversity of the participants at the HEC Paris summer School. Can you believe that Investment Banking & International Finance program gathered participants of 24 nationalities!
The Investment Banking & International Finance summer program is based on the real case studies across Europe, Asia and America. During the course, we addressed cross-continental issues with the guidance and supervision of Patrick Legland, who has over 25 years of experience and expertise in Equity, Debt Capital Markets, Mergers and Acquisitions. We also had a deep dive into the financial analysis, valuation and the impact of an IPO on the financial statements of both startups and well-established corporations in multiple industries.
Guest speakers, without any doubt, were the highlight of the program for me. Cedric Konopka, CEO at Retout Group and Gilles Ourvoie, Managing Partner at PMI Factory brought decades of experience and subject-matter expertise into the classroom through the real case studies on M&A transactions and post-merger integration.
Furthermore, my soft skills were constantly challenged throughout the program with group presentations, case cracking, data storytelling and visualization in cross-functional and multi-cultural groups.
I can definitely recommend the Investment Banking & International Finance summer program at HEC Paris for young professionals who aim to strengthen their financial knowledge, seek an academic challenge and consider new career opportunities.
