Student Story
This course is a great choice for anybody who is eager to develop a quantitative perspective on business issues and wants to gain the skills required to succeed as a business leader in the 21st century.
The professor is exceptionally skilled in explaining complicated concepts in simple words, making them understandable even for students without a strong statistics or math background. Although some of the contents of the course, such as factor analysis or multiple regression, were completely new to me, the professor used analogies and everyday examples to clearly illustrate these topics.
The program was highly interactive and included several group assignments, which helped the students get to know each other. One of the highlights of the course was when a senior general of the French Air Force came to speak about the importance of data analysis in the 21st century to maintain peace. The program taught me a great deal about using statistical concepts to improve decision-making in business. Thanks to the excellent teaching style, the interactive nature of the course, and the captivating guest lectures, I would recommend the course to anyone who wants to gain a thorough understanding of business analytics and statistics
Not only the classes but also life on campus was exciting. On the first day, we also discovered the options for extracurricular activities. From movie nights in the Bellon auditorium to football games on the football field - the school has something to offer for everybody. The whole program is very structured, and the school even offers shuttle buses to the city center of Paris. Students live in dorms on campus, which creates a unique environment to connect with people from around the world. I found this interaction between students to be one of the most rewarding experiences at HEC Paris. In contrast to other summer schools, which are often large and impersonal, students at HEC get to know almost all of the other participants in the two to six weeks they spend on campus, even those who take different courses. During my time at HEC Paris, I met a Mexican student with a passion for Data Science, a Chinese student who is working on his own company, a group of friends from Italy who, besides investment banking, count football among their passions. Building a network like this will not only help me get a head start in my career, but was also deeply fulfilling on a personal level. The friendships formed at HEC Paris lasted way beyond the duration of the program, and hopefully, will continue to remain for a lifetime.
Overall, spending my summer at HEC Paris proved to be one of the best decisions I have made so far. The combination of academic excellence, well-organized extracurricular activities, and a highly international class profile made my time at HEC unforgettable.
