Geopolitics, Globalization and Business Strategy

Kristina-Wagram

I thoroughly enjoyed studying these topics alongside a very diverse group of students from various countries…as each student offered a distinctively unique insight into global issues

The Geopolitics, Globalization and Business Strategy program attracted my interest as it integrates the study of global business with current world socioeconomics and geography through a political lens. We focused on the current global topics of China’s growing economy, the global energy industry and the current elections, particularly in the UK and France. I thoroughly enjoyed studying these topics alongside a very diverse group of students from various countries such as France, Italy, Colombia, and China, as each student offered distinctively unique insight into global issues.

During my session, the case study in this course required us to develop an original presentation to pitch a new business strategy for Amazon, based on our understanding and interpretation of current economic realities. This assignment was very exciting, as well as competitive, as the jury would choose the most convincing presentation. The case study presentation was an effective hands-on assignment that intersected our academic knowledge of business and geopolitics with interpersonal, team-working and public speaking skills.

The HEC campus was very beautiful and offered an inspiring and calming atmosphere, perfect for study, and its proximity to Versailles and Paris guaranteed for fun evening and weekend plans with friends. HEC also provided an amazing environment for hardworking, passionate, creative individuals seeking new experiences and challenges. Throughout the two-week session, our professor and the various speakers inspired us to be proactive learners and contribute to class discussions. Personally, I loved contributing to class discussions and debating; therefore, this was the ideal environment for me to thrive, as I felt encouraged to share my opinions and arguments with the class. As an undergraduate student entering the third year of my Major in Sociology, I am excited to share my newly gained insight into various global economic issues in my future course’s class discussions and assignments. My plans include graduate studies in business and law, and I feel this program was a great introduction to a top European business school experience.
