#WEAREHEC: Meet Matylda Stefanowska, Médias, Art, et Création student

An engineer and opera-lover, get to know Médias, Art et Création student Matylda Stefanowska, and what brought her to HEC Paris.

Her story

“I took the opportunity to join the Lodz Solar Team, a student project building the first solar-powered vehicle in Poland and driving through South Africa and Australia in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, the most prestigious solar car race on the globe.”

I am an engineer with a strong artistic background, and I come from Poland. Before HEC I explored quite a few different areas. I studied classical singing for several years and founded the student association of opera-lovers to better understand the artistic environment. Then I joined Fujitsu soon becoming a PMO member. After that, I took the opportunity to join the Lodz Solar Team, a student project building the first solar-powered vehicle in Poland and driving through South Africa and Australia in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, the most prestigious solar car race on the globe. Afterwards I was invited to do a TED talk about the experience. Fun fact: the conference took place in the concert hall where I used to perform opera before.

Matylda S HEC Paris

Her studies

I am at HEC to put all the technical skills and artistic intuition together into the challenging, but extremely rewarding, creative industries management context. When it comes to the program, I am amazed by the cycle of meetings with successful professionals from creative industries. I love that they give us an insight into what the work is really like and answer our questions. I was also pleasantly surprised that career fairs were still organized online, and what’s more, they worked well!

Her career

I would like to catalyze the digital transformation of creative institutions. Aside from my professional life, I would like to master a fourth and maybe fifth language to actively participate in international integration. The exchange of expertise and realization of cross-sectoral projects is a huge opportunity to develop in the EU and beyond, and I aim to facilitate this cooperation.
Her values

Challenges motivate me, both big and small. I love juggling a variety of projects. I need to stay busy to be productive. I also find it exciting to meet new people, which is why I love working on big projects.

Her hobbies

Music is my thick and thin companion. Singing and dancing help me to stay positive and balanced. I would love to join a choir in Paris once the global situation stabilizes. I am also fascinated by developmental psychology: I have spent half of my life taking care of kids, as a camp counselor, junior scout leader, and au pair. It is incredible that sometimes leading kids and adults has so much in common.
