Summer Student Story
HEC Paris has always represented French excellence and international success. It is the exact reason why my trust went for their summer program rather than any other.
I grew up in France and went to a French high school before going to London to study finance. I had to come back to my roots to find where I should belong and HEC helped me through this incredible opportunity to study real-life Mergers and Acquisitions cases at their Summer School.
I have always been very interested in the energy sector especially the energetic transition and green energy projects around the world, however, it was hard for me to understand where to start my journey as a finance student. The M&A summer program was a perfect fit and taught us students to understand how we could apply it best in the real world. Hence, I discovered how M&A was important in the energy sector and how it enabled development thanks to our wonderful teacher Patrick Legland. I was impressed by his natural talent to understand complex situations and thoroughly explain them. Therefore, his program was as fascinating as it was challenging.
His network allowed us to meet incredible people and have them for hours during conference sessions. These people showed us how different a career in finance can look, as well as how complicated it can become. All of them were very talented and represented a source of motivation and a role model to follow.
Patrick had a sentence: “Coucher tard, lever tot”. This sentence will remain in my head for a very long time since it helped me understand that everything is possible during the day as long as you are willing to put time and effort into your work. I would recommend this program to anyone looking for an opportunity to meet new people and network as well as get closer to finding the purpose of a future job or career.
I am delighted and do not regret my choice of joining this M&A program. It is a wonderful experience to connect with people having the same interest and passion for finance. I would recommend this program to anyone looking to sharpen their knowledge and discover real-life finance deals. The professor, the campus, and anyone you will meet will make your journey unforgettable and unique.
