Citizen Lobbying: Find your voice to create a better society - Insights by HEC professor Alberto Alemanno

Law
Published on:

Lobbying is something that only cooperations do, it’s about voicing, and influencing decision makers to make decisions that might go to the interest of the few rather than the many.

My argument is that the citizens, should also take the full advantage of lobbying, while relying on the same repertoire of tools, in order to have their voice heard and to influence public decision making, so that the quality of the air we breathe, the safety of the food we eat and the future of the new generation will also be taken into account and guaranteed in future decision making."

In this video, Alberto Alemanno, HEC professor of Law presents his latest book "Lobbying for Change: Find your voice to create a better society" and argues that through citizen lobbying, we can get back to power in order to shape and change policies to create a better society.

"Citizen lobbying is about lobbying by citizens for the citizens. It’s about picking up the phone and calling your elected representatives, it’s about mobilizing social media, opening a Twitter account in order to make your elected representatives accountable. It’s about starting a petition and collecting signatures for a cause you care deeply about; like LGBT rights or animal welfare. It is also about exploring the potential of your own expertise and talents in order to bring a positive outcome for society."
