Abstract :

This talk will offer an overview of existing and new results on empirical models of matching, which are models of matching with random utility that have found widespread applications in the fields of marriage economics, international trade, labor, and market design. We shall explore the microfoundations of these models, their testable implications, computation, identification and inference issues. The link with the mathematical theory of optimal transport will be discussed. A survey of applications will be given.
