What motivated you to pursue your Master’s at HEC Paris?
I was drawn by the program's strong professional placement, renowned professors, diverse cohort, and well-designed courses. The prestige of HEC Paris further solidified my decision, as it aligns with my career goals.
Is there anything you wish you had known before applying or during the application?
I wish I had understood more about the application process specific to investment banking, particularly the importance of early preparation through networking and securing relevant internships, which take time during the first term.
What was your biggest challenge in the application process, and how did you overcome it?
My biggest challenge was completing everything to the highest standard within the deadlines. I overcame this by creating a detailed schedule, for instance allocating time for GMAT preparation, essay drafts, and other key tasks, ensuring I stayed on track.
How did you prepare for your HEC Paris interview, and what would you recommend others focus on?
I focused on motivational questions, personal experiences, and technical knowledge. Anticipating questions based on my CV and essays, I prepared exhaustively, using tools like ChatGPT to simulate Q&A sessions and practicing with friends. With the interview being short (30 minutes), it’s crucial to stay sharp and concise.
If you had one piece of advice for applicants, what would it be?
Prepare well ahead of deadlines to avoid unexpected delays and missing application rounds. Be honest in your application, as interviews often delve into your experiences in detail. Most importantly, show genuine interest in the program and industry by following relevant news and developments early on.
