For the second consecutive year, HEC Paris is organizing its ”Fintech Talent Fair”, a half-day event aiming to bring students closer to fintech-related employers. On October 20 2016, the HEC Paris Campus will host 17 companies representing the full spectrum of the companies involved in fintech initiatives: from startups to larger financial institutions like BIPE Rating, Blockchain, Bloomberg, BNP Paribas, Finance Innovation, FirmFunding, Fractal Labs, Globcoin, IbanFirst, Kyriba, LemonWay, N26, Oddo & Cie, Optiopay, PayinTech, Slimpay, Unilend and Worldline.
This is in answer to demands by HEC students for a better understanding of the fintech sector and a desire to meet fintechs looking for junior talent. Fintech startups are a growing phenomenon across the financial services landscape. They now vie with investment banks and traditional financial services companies for the services of digitally savvy, entrepreneurial recruits from HEC Paris.
Some of the companies present are already supporting the recently created HEC Digital Centre. This venture has been put together by the business school to support companies in the digital sector. It also provides vital support for companies undergoing significant digital transformation by assisting their recruitment efforts and by creating synergies with students and faculty.
Fintech Talent Fair will kick off with a two-hour conference entitled “Has fintech reached the age of reason?” . This will attempt to analyse the dynamics of the fintech sector as it moves away from purely disruptive models poised to replace banks, towards a wider playing field ranging from banking alternatives to the most symbiotic collaborations with incumbent institutions.
The conference line-up is as follows:
● Panel discussion: Fintech at the crossroads: disruption, collaboration, regulation. Participants:
○ Pierre-Antoine Dusoulier, Founder and CEO, IBANFIRST
○ Matthieu Garnier, Head of Fintech & Research, BNP PARIBAS
○ Jonathan Tyce, Senior Banks Analyst, BLOOMBERG
○ Marc Lapostolle, Project Manager Bank & Finance, FINANCE INNOVATION
○ Antoine Benoist, Corporate Development, ODDO & Cie
● Discussion: The future of payments: A view from the top
○ Nicolas Kozakiewicz, Head of R&D and Innovation, WORLDLINE
● Keynote: Celine Lazorthes (H.08), Founder and CEO of LEETCHI and MANGOPAY
● Concluding Notes: HEC Fintech Alumni Roundtable: Fintech careers
The Talent Fair itself will follow, consisting of a series of speed networking workshops to allow for privileged interaction between HEC participants and companies.
The Fair also relies on the support of the HEC Alumni Finance Hub, a 6,000-strong association that counts some successful fintech entrepreneurs such as the founders of iconic Paris-based startups Leetchi and Younited Credit. HEC Alumni Finance Hub will take this opportunity to announce the launch of its Fintech Club, thus strengthening its ties with the world of fintech.
