AI documentary screening for Beijing Alumni

On January 10th, in collaboration with the HEC Paris China Office, the joint screening and panel discussion of the Chinese-Italian documentary film "AI La" was held at the Yale Beijing Center located in Chaoyang district and attended by both its director and producer. The documentary explores the societal impact of artificial intelligence (AI) from the perspective of an AI engineer. Elodie Xu, Director of the HEC Paris China Office, and Helen Sun, President of the Yale Beijing Alumni Association, opened the event with a warm welcome to the alumni and audience present.

HEC Paris Beijing Office - AI doc screening

More than 70 alumni from HEC Paris, Yale University, Columbia University and other universities attended the screening. The production team of the documentary series "Wild Planet" joined the panel discussion after the screening. Italian director Carlo Christian Spano and Chinese producer Zhao Yang engaged in a dialog and interaction with the audience. The documentary's protagonist, She Chang, also joined the conversation from California, United States, across several time zones. The discussion was moderated by Yale graduate Xiao Ting Huo.

The documentary "AI La" explores the societal impact of AI from the perspective of an AI engineer: it tells the story of an experienced Silicon Valley engineer who has dedicated his life to AI for over a decade. Feeling confused and worried about his future after realizing the rapid evolution of AI, and to find his potential in nature, he joins an international trekking expedition through the mysterious Caucasus region. Inspired and protected by "Natural Intelligence", he embarks on a new AI journey, exploring China, the United Kingdom and the United States.
