Strategic Management Study Trip 2024: Exploring London's Business Landscape

In October 2024, the HEC UK Office hosted an exciting study trip to London for 100 students from the Master in Strategic Management. Over four days, participants immersed themselves in the vibrant business environment of the city, visiting 20 leading companies across various sectors. The trip kicked off with a networking evening at HEC UK House, where students connected with alumni working in London. This event facilitated valuable conversations, providing insights into career paths and industry expectations. The presence of alumni was instrumental in guiding students, and their willingness to share experiences and advice greatly enriched the trip.

The following days were filled with engaging company visits. On the first day, students explored firms like Mastercard, American Express, and Revolut, gaining firsthand knowledge of their operations and cultures. The afternoon included visits to CVA, Getlink, AstraZeneca, and Google, where students learned about innovative practices. 

Day two continued with visits to LEK, Advancy, and OC&C, as well as Bouygues Construction, Accellency, Silverlake, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and Air France. Each session included discussions with industry professionals, offering students a deeper understanding of various roles in the strategic management field.

The final day wrapped up with visits to JLR/Sytner, Big Mamma, Louis Dreyfus, Science Museum and Hugo Boss. Students also explored opportunities at Amazon, Virgin Media, and Boston Consulting Group. This comprehensive schedule exposed them to a wide array of career possibilities and the dynamic nature of the industry.

The trip was expertly organized by the HEC UK Office, which coordinates this annual initiative to provide students with direct exposure to real-world business practices. The connections made with industry leaders and the support from alumni were vital in helping students navigate their future career paths. Participants returned to Paris not only with enhanced knowledge but also with a broader network that will help their career development. This experience was a pivotal moment in their academic journey, equipping them with insights and inspiration to navigate the complexities of the strategic management landscape. Companies involved expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage with aspiring professionals, with all indicating a desire to participate in next year’s event.

The HEC UK Office looks forward to continuing this initiative and welcoming students back next year as they take the next steps in their professional lives.
