Tokyo and Beijing offices welcome MBA recruitment tour
Allison Brown, MBA Marketing and Recruitment Manager, recently returned from a successful promotional trip to Asia, with invaluable support from Junko Adachi, Director of the HEC Paris office in Tokyo, and Elodie Xu and Mo Song, respectively Director of the Beijing Office and program manager. In August a series of presentations of the MBA program, one-on-one meetings, information sessions, alumni meetings and dinners for newly admitted students took place in Asia’s most dynamic cities: Tokyo, Taipei, Beijing, and Shanghai. The HEC staff in Japan and China were also on hand to provide her with in-depth insights of the local environment and advice on navigating cultural nuances.

"HEC Paris had a very successful recruitment trip for our MBA program in Tokyo, Taipei, Shanghai, and Beijing this past August. It is clear that Asia is a strong market for us, which is largely attributed to our amazing HEC staff in these countries and an exceptionally engaged local alumni network. I am thankful for the warm welcome and all of the support of our local HEC staff in Tokyo and Beijing! We are looking forward to welcoming more students from Asia on campus in the coming intakes, their experience and perspective is essential to the diversity of our MBA program."
Allison Brown, Marketing and Recruitment Manager for MBA
As the HEC Paris campus in Jouy-en-Josas was reopening to kick off the new academic year, Allison Brown was already on her way over to East Asia with a full schedule ahead of her. The Japan and China offices were instrumental to the success of this trip: some of their key missions are to to increase the School's visibility, and also to mobilize and animate the alumni community in the country; assisting a colleague setting foot in these countries was a no-brainer for them.
Full house for the presentation in Tokyo
The first stop on Brown's itinerary was Tokyo, where she was welcomed by Junko Adachi, Director of the HEC Paris office in Japan. Both were pleasantly surprised by the turnout for the presentation they had organized: although 30 participants had signed up, word of mouth quickly spread thanks to alumni and current students, and 50 eager participants showed up at Vision Center. 3 alumni also took the stage to share their HEC Paris experience and their career paths with the audience. The discussions went on well after the session finished, and continued on the street.
HEC Paris has been maintening strong ties with its Japanese partners (Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo University, Keio University and Kyoto University) for decades, partly thanks to the Tokyo office. It was opened in 1991 and is now located in the Maison Franco-Japonaise in Shibuya. Each year, more and more Japanese students are welcomed on campus, and the Japanese Chapter now has more than 530 members.
Stops in China’s major cities
The Beijing office strongly supported the Chinese leg of Brown’s trip. Information sessions were held in both Beijing and Shanghai, with the participation of Chinese alumni. The opportunity to discuss their HEC Paris experience in their native language was a bonus for all participants. Dinner events were organized in both Beijing and Shanghai for several newly admitted candidates, as well Mo Song, program manager at the Beijing office. It gave them the opportunity to bond and discuss their expectations before flying to France to start the program.
The HEC Paris representative office in China opened in 2006, and inaugurated last November in the heart of Beijing an Alumni House. 5 local Chapters are constantly growing and now count over 1400 members.
