Studying with and being taught by the most extraordinary people offers opportunities that are not available at any other school
Before attending HEC, I earned a BA Degree in International Studies from Leiden University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality Management from Glion London. After graduation, I first gained work experience through internships in corporate fundraising in the non-profit sector at UNICEF in Geneva and at Plan International Germany.
A Unique Opportunity to Pursue Passions
What drew me to the SASI Master was the innovative curriculum and exceptional program structure that allowed me to tailor the year at HEC to my own interests and needs through a wide variety of courses and tracks from which to choose. Also, the approach of studying sustainable development issues in a rigorous business context is unique and not offered in any other program in Europe. HEC’s excellent reputation and the opportunities offered through the wide alumni network and the link to luxury companies seemed ideal to me, as I am particularly interested in sustainability in the fashion industry. Through the Luxury Certificate chaired by Kering I was able to deepen my knowledge about the industry. Further, the location close to Paris was a deciding factor to pursue my studies at HEC.
A Challenging yet Inspiring Environment.
What has made my experience at HEC most memorable are my fellow students. We all come from a variety of nationalities and backgrounds, yet we all share a common worldview and vision. I found great inspiration in exchanges with my classmates while constantly being challenged to give my very best. Studying with and being taught by the most extraordinary people offers opportunities that are not available at any other school.
Putting Theory into Practice.
Through the wide range of courses offered, I was able to gain a broad understanding of the subject, and of how to tackle environmental and social issues from a variety of different business angles. I also learned how sustainability can be integrated at all operational levels. I was able to put the theoretical knowledge from the classroom into practice through choosing the Intrapreneurship track, which allowed me to consult for Chanel Beauty and Perfumes over a period of three months.
The program’s variety in terms of students and classes offered gave me the opportunity to immerse myself in a number of topics, which helped me in deciding upon the field I would like to pursue my career in, which is in sustainability in fashion or cosmetics.
