Alexandra, Belarus
I am infinitely grateful to HEC, for the teaching conditions offered, for the open arms that the school and its students extended to me, for the scholarships that I have already obtained.
I have already understood the immensity of the scale of the possibilities of HEC thanks to which I was able to obtain my internship at Barclays in Finance and discover a new version of myself. This entrepreneurial spirit and people with incredible backgrounds push me to exceed my limits and aim for the stars. Every day I am filled with a huge gratitude.
I never thought that the country I was born in, and the country where millions of people were killed during the Second World War, could support the war with Ukraine. Moreover, for any message or comment against the war on social media, you can get at least 15 days of arrest in inhumane conditions.
There is no war in my country, but it seems so. Since August 2020, there has been a war against its own people, who have spoken out against the dictatorial regime of A. Lukashenko and the falsified elections.
Every day for already three years, the arrests of people who have expressed their disagreement continue here. As a historian, I spend a lot of time on the subject of purges and punitive psychiatry in the Soviet Union. I could never imagine that the prisons of our time in Belarus would be like those of Stalin's era and that the detention and torture of people in these prisons would resemble the worst and most terrible moments of the Soviet Union.
Since September 2022, I cannot enter my country because of any photo I have taken and any photo where my face has been detected, I could be arrested at the Belarusian border and never return to France. Therefore, my dream is to help talented young people in Belarus, who do not even have an idea of the enormous learning opportunities abroad, of the scholarships offered in universities in Europe and around the world.
