Mykyta, Ukraine
I am very grateful for this opportunity and when I become a successful person, I am going to give back my help to the people who are be in my situation today.
My name is Mykyta Alekseiev and in my 21st year of life, I was faced with something that nobody should – War.
For more than 2 weeks my family and I were under the occupation of the Russian army without any electricity, heating or water supply. Every day I woke up and fell asleep in the basement listening the sound of the shelling of my city Kharkiv. Luckily, we managed to leave and move to the west of Ukraine. I continued to study, successfully graduated, and enrolled in the HEC-X Data for Science master.
Due to the situation in Ukraine, I arrived late on campus. By that moment my classmates had already made friendships and I felt like a stranger when I arrived. But, after some reflection, I understood that this is an ideal environment, where I can grow professionally and psychologically.
I have made a lot of friends. I was able to tackle complex topics and increase my social skills. I am currently doing an internship in a promising start-up, which is based at Station F. The company is called Giskard and develops solutions to help data scientists make their ML solutions reliable and ethical.
I understand very well that a human's life is fragile and short, so one needs to really make the best of it. All the above-mentioned experiences, impressions, and achievements would not be possible for me without the opportunity that the Imagine Fellowship Program gave me.
Sometimes I still do not believe that I am worthy of it. But, since I was chosen, I am highly motivated to prove that you made the right decision. I am very grateful for this opportunity and when I become a successful person, I am going to give back my help to the people who are be in my situation today.
