Entrepreneurship & Digital Innovation - HEC x TUM

Sofia Bertolino

Our group project improved my problem-solving abilities while also extending my capacity for cross-cultural empathy and communication, which are critical abilities in the international business world of today.

When submitting my application for the TUMxHEC Summer School on Entrepreneurship and Digital Innovation, my objectives went beyond improving my academic standing. My intention was to fully immerse myself in an event that would provoke me to reevaluate my views on innovation and business. I am an undergraduate student at Luiss Guido Carli in Economics and Management and I have always been intrigued by how technology shapes industries, and this program offered the perfect opportunity to explore that in-depth.

Experts like Jens Foerderer, Jingui Xie, and Jean-Rémi Gratadour guided the program's academic educational program, which gave participants a thorough understanding of entrepreneurship in the digital era. In addition to academic understanding, we had discussions with guest speakers who were pioneers in their domains, including digital transformation, venture financing, and artificial intelligence. These conversations were really helpful to me in rethinking how companies may change in an increasingly digital environment. I was really motivated to consider my potential career journey in an innovative manner after learning from their successful professions and cutting-edge strategies.

The diversity of other participants was what really enhanced the experience. Meeting people from different backgrounds was stimulating and informative for me as someone who appreciates cross-cultural experiences. Each group project combined a variety of viewpoints and skill levels, and we overcame obstacles by utilizing our own talents as a team. These partnerships improved my problem-solving abilities while also extending my capacity for cross-cultural empathy and communication, which are critical abilities in the international business world of today.

Furthermore, the program's promotion of a sense of community extended far beyond the classroom. Since we had similar interests and aspirations, my classmates and I grew close and will surely keep in touch throughout our professional lives. It was a stimulating atmosphere that promoted advancement in both the classroom and personally.

My abilities were further developed at the TUMxHEC Summer School and I left with useful tools that I will utilize in my professional life. Along with better technical know-how, I also came back with a clearer idea of what I could offer the field of digital entrepreneurship.

I highly recommend this program to anyone seeking a comprehensive understanding of digital innovation in business. It's an exceptional opportunity to develop personally and professionally and make connections with like-minded people throughout the world.
