The program provides all the professional opportunities business students might be looking for, from start-ups and big corporations to finance and consulting
Before joining HEC, I did an undergraduate degree in English and French law and a master’s degree in International Economic Law and Commercial Arbitration. Given that I’m more interested in business, I had already acquired some professional experience in banking and consulting.
Why the MFE at HEC Paris?
Having a background in law, my objective was to switch from a law focus to a business one and find a job in finance or strategy. The MFE program was perfect for that purpose as it builds on economics in the first stage and subsequently focuses on practical application of economic understanding in finance and strategy, a great mix for students. Firstly, the MFE gives us a holistic understanding of the economy and business that will serve us for the rest of our career. This approach is, in my view, more valuable than a specific skills and tools teaching program, which can quickly become outdated. Secondly, it provides program graduates with excellent career opportunities in both finance and consulting as well as in various other business related fields.
Program highlights
The program certainly lived up to my expectations, in both great teaching and delivering the full business school experience. The MFE program in particular has some excellent courses that had a direct impact on my understanding of current economic developments, while studying and living on the HEC campus provided me with ample networking opportunities, with brilliant and motivated students. It was therefore a great way for me to change industries over a one-year program.
Career ambitions
The program provides all the professional opportunities business students might be looking for, from start-ups and big corporations to finance and consulting. In my case, I decided to go into consulting and I am now very excited to kick start my career at McKinsey & Co.
