Our mission: We are committed to helping our students and executive education participants develop the knowledge, knowhow and soft skills that are required to lead organizations conducive towards inclusive growth.
Master in Management - Grande Ecole
The students in Master in Management have access to several courses about inclusive economy
Let's focus on a few programs proposed in HEC 2023-2024 catalogue for 2nd year-students (M1)
=> Inequality and Business in the 21st century
Inequalities are at the forefront of today’s public and policy debate. There could hardly be a more pressing time to understand how inequalities arise, which one’s matter, why they matter and how they could be addressed. We see inequalities all the time, whether at schools, job offices, hospitals, traveling around the world or even in a single city – or when skimming through the news. But we still lack a clear understanding of the role that businesses play to affect inequalities. In this course, we take a step back and ask: how are different kinds of inequalities related, what are the big economic and psychological forces that create (and sustain) them, may it make sense for businesses to engage in solving the inequality challenges, and if yes, what would be the right mix of business policies to tackle them?
The course is taught by HEC Professor Marieke Huysentruyt, Strategy & Business Policy department
=> Human rights and Business
The course provides an introduction to business and human rights (BHR) through a series of concrete examples and testimonies from practitioners. The course is deeply rooted in some of the most pressing global challenges such as the elimination of child labour and forced labour (SDG 8.7) and articulated with the “BHR” framework: UNGPs, responsible business conduct, mandatory human rights due diligence.
The course is taught by Charles Autheman, international consultant for the International Labor Organization and other UN agencies.
The academies are a set of thematic seminars with alternating theoretical courses and practical workshops, field studies and group work and take place during two and a half weeks in January.
[NEW] The academy "French Red Cross and business models innovation"
The idea is to explore how to design sustainable and inclusive business models, that will bring solutions to social issues the Innovation Department of La Croix Rouge wants to tackle: digital inclusion, energy poverty, migration, social ties and loneliness, mental health, etc.
All these issues are indeed social innovation opportunities, and require creativity and the capacity to design innovative business models, that can be hybrid: partly relying on market mechanisms and if necessary partly subsidized.
Block Seminars are intensive one-week seminars on an in¬novative Management topic, run prior to or at the start of the MIM Term 1. Students from all CEMS Global alliance institutions gather for the Block Seminars that are usually led by teams of tea¬chers from different disciplines of Management studies.The intensive academic and cultural experience is an ideal starter for students to the MIM program.
The HEC Paris Seminar
The annual 5-day Block Seminar on Inclusive & Social Business is an opportunity for the Inclusive Economy Center’s team to challenge participants and question their roles as managers and future executives. Indeed, this Seminar critically investigates the set of reasons that prompt firms to contribute to the resolution of societal problems / poverty alleviation and analyzes the innovative inclusive and social business models that they develop. It explores how firms transform themselves when seeking to become more inclusive.
The S&O Block Seminar also host a full-day workshop on Systems Innovation with an important social issue/case that helps the students experience what complex systems are and understand that this methodology offers a systemic and more holistic way of problem solving around complex challenges. The PTCE-Vivre les Mureaux has been an exciting place for experimentation for four years.
