Highlights of the first online Foundation’s evening
As every year, the HEC Foundation organizes an annual meeting with its donors, corporate partners, staff and scholarship students to review the past year. But in an exceptional situation, exceptional measures! This annual gathering transformed into a unique and digital event.
Peter Todd, Dean of HEC Paris and Delphine Colson (H.94), Executive Director, HEC Foundation
On Tuesday 29 September, more than 770 people logged in to watch the event live. Indeed, we took advantage of this digital format to invite the entire HEC community (donors, corporate partners, Alumni, professors, staff and students) who was particularly interested in the HEC Foundation’s activities.
This event was an opportunity to present the strategic projects of the School we are committed to supporting and to take a look at the achievements we have made so far through our Impact tomorrow campaign, thanks to the valuable support of our community.
Olivier Sevillia (MBA.90), President of the HEC Foundation, opened the evening by thanking the support of the community of donors and highlighted the large commitment of many of our donors who have strenghthened despite the crisis we are all going through. In fact, more than 220 donors have mobilized recently with the creation of the solidarity fund that we have put in place, to support students on campus during lockdown, who were having financial difficulties.
He also shared the progress of the fund-raising since the launch of our major fundraising campaign 2019-2024: more than 90 million euros of 200 million euros have already been achieved. Many new donors have joined us in support of the school’s inclusion programs as well as the knowledge production.
Following this introduction, the participants watched an animated film summing up all our activities, to present the progress made by the Foundation since the beginning of the Impact tomorrow campaign and show some examples of projects carried out in 2019 thanks to the support of donors.
Then, three reports make it possible to give a clearer idea of how your donations are used and to highlight three key dimensions for HEC Paris that are the inclusion of all talents, the knowledge production and entrepreneurship. A chance to count among the testimonies,Jean-Paul Agon (H.78) on the theme of inclusion and equal opportunities, Céline Lazothes (MS.08) about entrepreneurship and André-Benoît de Jaegère, to present the research at the Foundation.
In a second phase, Peter Todd, Dean of HEC Paris and Delphine Colson (H.94), Executive Director of the Foundation opened an discussion on an important topic for the school’s strategy which is Purpose & Sustainability. Representatives of the School discussed about this subject: Rodolphe Durand (H.93-D.97), founder and academic director of the Institut Society and Organizations, Cécile de Lisle, holder and executive director of the Purposeful Leadership Chair, Bénédicte Faivre-Tavignot, Executive Director of the Society and Organizations Institute which aims to develop a new way of thinking about the role of business in society, whether through research or teaching and Francois Collin, Director for Climate and Environment of the School.
And to illustrate these different topics, the participants could appreciate the visions of three guest speakers including those of the Minister Emmanuelle Wargon (H.92) in charge of housing, of Emmanuel Faber (H.86), President and CEO of Danone, and of Hubert Joly (H.81), Former CEO – Best Buy et Senior Lecturer – Harvard Business School.
This discussion and reports made it possible to highlight a wide range of exciting projects that are unfolding for our School as well as the great achievements already accomplished at this stage of the campaign. It is thanks to the support of our donors, corporate partners and the mobilization of the HEC community that we will be able to continue in this direction.
A big thank you to our 40 corporate sponsors, our 217 major donors, the 800 Donor Clubs and the thousands of donors for their generosity. All this could not have been done without your support!
if you want to have an impact on the Climate, on Purposeful Leadership, on Inclusive Economy, Data Sciences, on Diversity and Inclusion of all talents or if you just want to give back a little bit of you have received from this School, the HEC Foundation provides the safest, the most reliable and the most impactful vehicule you can think of.
