Reunion between Lebanese students from HEC Paris
On Thursday September 29th , the School’s Teams represented by Philippe Oster (Director of International Affairs) and Sophie Dimich-Louvet (Director of Recruitment for the HEC Paris Masters Programmes) and the HEC Foundation Team organized an informal meeting with the Lebanese students receiving the CMA CGM Excellence Fund for Lebanon and the Garzouzi Foundation.
These two international scholarship schemes express part of HEC and its Foundation desire to allow high-potential Lebanese students access to international studies and join HEC Paris School otherwise unable, due to lack of resources.
During September exchange, students shared a sense of gratitude to the Teams. Today, the economic and political situation of their Country is an obstacle to the generation’s dreams. Arrived on campus a few weeks earlier, the recipients seemed to have already taken their bearings within the campus. They confirmed they felt comfortable in their new place and shared their enthusiasm for the unique experience they were going through.
School programs for Lebanese students:
Created in 2018 by the HEC Foundation thanks to the generous support of Nicolas (H.92) and Michèle Garzouzi, the Garzouzi Foundation scholarships offer students of Lebanese nationality with limited financial resources the opportunity to apply for and follow the HEC Paris Master in Management. Since its creation, 12 students have benefited from this scholarship. Estelle-Maria Haddad (H.22), recipient of this scholarship wishes other students to follow her footsteps and hopes to inspire vocations among her former comrades of the Beirut Higher School of Engineering:
I want to encourage the Lebanese students not to erect any barriers to their own success, be they linguistic, financial or even social. The HEC experience is an academic, professional and personal opportunity that I wish everybody could enjoy.
Estelle-Maria Haddad (H.22)
In December 2021, a major programme was set up for Lebanese students in favour of equal opportunities. CMA CGM Group, a world leader in maritime transport and logistics, HEC Paris and the HEC Foundation have launched the HEC Paris' largest ever scholarship programme for students outside France: “CMA CGM Excellence Fund for Lebanon”. Thanks to this program, 20 Lebanese students will be accompanied every year for 10 years.
