Why this Summer Program ?
This summer program is taught via blended learning to maximize the experience. Pre-recorded sessions introduce participants to key concepts and principles of luxury management to learn at your own pace. This allows greater flexibility to explore the luxury ecosystem in and around Paris. In-person sessions take your learning to the next level through interactions with professors, a range of guest speakers from the luxury industry and peers from around the world. Combined with teamwork and advice for complementary visits in the city, this blended learning experience ensures you can make the most of your stay to combine cultural and sector-oriented visits with academic resources for a comprehensive experience.
This innovative model is ideal as it proposes a mix of on-campus and individual learning, whilst providing plenty of opportunity for a full Paris experience.

Overview
The luxury sector is a major aspect of the French economy and requires a specific set of managerial skills and expertise. The HEC Paris Summer Program in Luxury Management is designed to equip participants with the knowledge to master the fundamentals of Luxury Management.
It will explore the role of the luxury industry in society, and the key principles defining it, through particular focus on luxury brand management, the touch-point between brand and customer, the balance between business and creation and the contemporary sales strategies adopted by luxury brands.
If you wish to navigate the captivating world of luxury brands, this course will equip you with the essential knowledge and skills to understand this dynamic and demanding industry.

Although the program is intended for participants with limited experience in the luxury industry, the course material and teaching methods still provide a challenging experience for those with more experience and more advanced knowledge.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of the summer program, participants will be able to:
- Define Luxury’s managerial principles: Unravel the meaning of luxury, exploring its multifaceted nature to better understand its unique managerial principles.
- Understand the Luxury Consumer: Delve into the motivations and desires of luxury buyers, discovering what drives their purchasing decisions.
- Craft iconic brands: Identify the key driving principles of luxury brand building essential to making appropriate business decisions.
- Navigate the luxury ecosystem: Define the characteristics of a luxury brand and get a sense of the prerequisites to be able to build one over time.
- Analyze the implications of a luxury strategy from a financial perspective
- Develop and formulate a luxury strategy based on the offering’s characteristics and market opportunities.
Assessment
All participants are expected to be in class, come with questions and participate in group discussions and workshops.
Grading will be determined according to the following factors: Presence & Participation, Individual Assignments, Group Project.
Participants will work throughout the program on a team project. This provides the opportunity to apply the learnings from the classroom to a real-life product or service idea. All projects are presented for peer review at the end of the program.
Participants who successfully complete the program will earn 5 ECTS credits. Full attendance is required to obtain the Program Certificate.
All students who are seeking credit are encouraged to consult their home academic institution to validate credit transfer.
